Duties:

  • Act as the main contact for community readers, supporting selection and expanding participation.
  • Develop and implement marketing strategies; manage social media and newsletters.
  • Coordinate travel, accommodations, and logistics for participating writers.
  • Communicate with and support writers throughout the festival process.
  • Manage the community readers program, including book distribution and review collection.
  • Coordinate adult writing and youth poetry contests, including promotion, judge coordination, and winner
  • Contribute written content to the monthly newsletter.
  • Assist with event planning, including scheduling, panels, and workshop coordination.
  • Provide on-site support during the festival, including writer assistance and social media coverage.
  • Oversee distribution of books and promotional materials for events.
  • Collect post-event feedback and maintain relationships with writers.

Skills:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with writers from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong marketing skills with the ability to identify and execute marketing strategies
  • Proficiency in website management, social media content creation, and tools like Canva or Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Familiarity with email marketing tools (e.g., Mailchimp)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including research and writing for newsletters and promotional materials.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • A background in arts administration, event coordination, or a related field is preferred.
  • Knowledge of and passion for literature and the Canadian literary community is an asset.
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace apps and familiarity with project management tools.
  • Team-oriented, with the ability to work collaboratively and inclusively.
  • Flexibility to work some evenings and weekends, with in-person tasks in Eden Mills.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are assets.
