The SEED is a community food project of the Guelph Community Health Centre. About 16% of households in Guelph are food insecure (Guelph Wellbeing study, 2014). The SEED's goal is to change that by offering programs and services that tackle the root causes of poverty. We are supported by hundreds of amazing community members and by many partner organizations. The SEED delivers community programs that address the causes and effects of food insecurity. Our vision: A community where everyone has access to nutritious food. This job involves a lot of different tasks so it suits someone who likes to do new things and is adaptable to changing schedules. You will be assisting with many aspects of The SEED's work so it's important that you believe in the work we are doing in the community. Some of the tasks you could be doing in this job include: • Packing grocery boxes at our Good Food Warehouse • Managing Groceries from The SEED inventory • Helping to make meals for community members in our kitchens • Growing fresh vegetables at one of our Guelph-based gardens or at Everdale, our partner farm (transportation would be provided to you for any out-of-Guelph work) • Assisting with grocery deliveries • Working with community members to start a food project at Shelldale Community Centre


• No specific education requirements - a willingness to learn and to share what you know • Kind and patient - excellent customer service • Able to work Monday to Friday during the day, including evening work a few times per week • A positive attitude that supports your own success as well as the success of others • A basic level of physical fitness and ability to handle working outdoors in varied conditions - able to lift 40 lbs. regularly • Willing to complete a criminal background check • Committed to the Mission, Vision and Values of the Guelph CHC • Ready to maintain an organized and safe workspace • Able to maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and the public • Able to work with diverse groups and populations • Communicate openly and respectfully with others • Punctual and ready to work selected hours • Committed to working safely and efficiently
