Responsible for the bird room cleaning and bird care at the Rockwood facility. Responsible for ensuring that all aspects of animal care and vaccine production are in compliance with approved Outlines of Production (O.P.), Special Outlines (S.O) and Standard Operating Procedures. (S.O.P.) Assist in technician’s responsibilities for the production of vaccine. Will be required to work weekends after initial training.   All training will be provided.

  • General preparation of equipment, supplies and rooms
  • Weekly inventory check of supplies
  • Clean and sanitize production and animal facilities
  • Maintenance and Care of birds and bird rooms
  • Order Feed and Supplies as needed
  • Euthanasia of birds
  • Help with the inoculation, of birds
  • Vaccine production in the laboratory
  • Assist with the production of different Eimeria species in the laboratory as per the production schedule
  • Assist with general cleaning duties associated with the daily operations
  • Detailed, accurate, concurrent, complete record keeping
  • Follows all safety procedures
  • Follows standard operation procedures and company policies
  • Maintenance and Care of birds and bird rooms
  • Feed and water all birds and record observations as set out
  • Control room temperature and humidity
  • Replace or clean vent filters
  • Clean and disinfect empty bird rooms
  • Record in Log book when rooms cleaned and disinfected
  • Record daily temperature of all refrigerated units; report problems
  • Help empty the freezers of dead birds.
  • Order Feed and Supplies as needed


  • Education: Completion of secondary education
  • Working knowledge of poultry production an asset
  • Physical: Bending 25%, Lifting up to 50 lbs, Standing 90%, Visual Inspection 25%, Verbal, Communication 95%
  • Successful Candidates Possess the Following Competencies
  • The candidate will possess beginner computer skill knowledge
  • The candidate will possess a beginner level knowledge and understanding of hazardous material handling
  • Beginner knowledge of math
