About 16% of households in Guelph are food insecure (Guelph Wellbeing study, 2014). The SEED's goal is to change that by offering programs and services that tackle the root causes of poverty. We are supported by hundreds of amazing community members and by many partner organizations. The SEED delivers community programs that address the causes and effects of food insecurity. Our vision: A community where everyone has access to nutritious food. About this job opportunity This job involves a lot of different tasks, so it suits someone who likes to do new things and is adaptable to changing schedules. You will primarily be part of a team that delivers groceries to community members participating in the Groceries From The SEED social enterprise - You will also assist with additional aspects of The SEED's work as needed.

The job includes: • Working in The SEED's Community Food Warehouse • Operating The SEED's cargo vans to deliver groceries directly to homes within Guelph and Wellington County, or support volunteer drivers • Interacting with customers in a friendly and professional manner • Following all Covid-safe requirements • Supporting the pack line team including helping with set up, tear down, and/or packing grocery boxes • Assisting with additional programs from The SEED as needed (Upcycle Kitchen, Shelldale Community Centre, and Good Food Distribution) • Regular communication with the Home Delivery Lead and customer service team for ongoing customer information updates • Ensuring warehouse food and equipment are organized The Delivery Driver will be fully trained and supported by skilled and experienced supervisors. Job requirements and expectations: • G-Class Driver's License • Comfortable driving cargo vehicles filled with deliveries in all reasonable weather conditions • Kind and patient - excellent customer service • Able to work Monday to Friday during the day, including the possibility of evening work a few times per week • This position also requires a high degree of self-direction, supported problem solving, and a positive "can-do" attitude • A basic level of physical fitness and ability to handle working outdoors in varied conditions - able to lift 40 lbs. regularly and deliver food to upper-level units without elevators • Willing to complete a criminal background check • Committed to the Mission, Vision and Values of the Guelph CHC • Ready to maintain an organized and safe workspace • Able to maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and the public • Able to work with diverse groups and populations • Communicate openly and respectfully with others • Punctual and ready to work selected hours • Committed to working safely and efficiently
