Food Service Worker
Highland Manor is building on our reputation as one of the finest Retirement Living centres in the area with the addition of 27 Independent Suites. We are located on the corner of Belsyde Avenue and St David Street, close to downtown and within walking distance of shopping. With both Assisted Living rooms and Independent Suites, Highland Manor can offer the level of care and service to meet your needs in Retirement Living.

Approximately 2 shifts per week hours are 11 am - 630 pm.
• Reporting to the Director of Nutrition Services, the Food Service Worker / Dietary Aide is responsible for serving food, dishwashing, food preparations and portioning, and other related duties.
• Knowledge of basic nutrition and special diet needs of individual residents • Able to operate kitchen utensils and equipment safely and efficiently • Able to work in an environment that is subject to temperature change • Able to tolerate standing and lifting throughout the workday • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions • Must be open to new knowledge and changes in the healthcare and food service fields • Must be able to relate, communicate and co-operate effectively with staff, residents, residents' families, and the public • Must be able to exhibit maturity, good judgment, and flexibility • Exhibit and maintain a high standard of professional knowledge appearance, behaviour and attitude • Possess physical and mental capabilities to provide quality resident care • Must show genuine concern for the elderly • Completed or currently enrolled in Food Service Worker program from a recognized college as defined by the Ontario Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology, or a registered private career college in Ontario is required – preferrable but not essential / mandatory • Years of experience 1 – 2 years • Valid Safe Food Handling Certificate is required • Previous professional experience in a Retirement or Health Care setting an asset
