Flexible work schedule. It will include weekends and nights.


The employee is required to work in different 8-hour shifts between 6:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. They will have 2 days off per week on a rotational basis. 37.5-40 hours per week


$14.20 to $16.20 hourly


  • Cut carcasses, sides and quarters
  • Cut, trim and prepare standard cuts of meat
  • Remove bones from meat
  • Cut poultry into parts
  • Cut fish into steaks and fillets
  • Grind meats
  • Make special sausages
  • Slice cooked meats
  • Prepare special orders
  • Prepare special displays of meats, poultry and fish products
  • Shape, lace and tie roasts, other meats, poultry and seafood
  • Clean meats to prepare for processing or cutting
  • Wrap and package prepared meats
  • Weigh meats for sale
  • Price meat products
  • Sell meats to customers
  • Maintaining freshness levels, dynamic presentation of product, and upholding safety/health standards in the coolers and the department (C.F.I.A. standards)
  • Providing superior customer service by greeting customers, answering questions and suggestive selling, and assisting with special requests
  • Inspecting, wrapping, pricing and merchandising products accurately while ensuring proper rotation and quality
  • Prepare beef, lamb, pork to industry standards and Market Fresh standards which is outlined by Meat Managers
  • Must use ethics and extreme discretion on freshness and appeal when cutting and producing items
  • Preparing custom cuts and orders for customers
  • Use all equipment in the meat room (band saw, tenderizer, grounding machine)
  • Ensure preparation is properly dated and rotated within the fridges (First In, First Out)
  • Ensure effective waste control through use of daily waste control sheets and proper rotation of products
  • Organize and clean the department including all coolers, fridges, production areas, equipment and storage areas


  • Education: Completion of High School is required
  • Experience: A minimum of 2 to 3 years of experience in the field is required
  • On-the-job training will be provided
  • Butcher training in college or other meat-cutting training program or apprenticeship is an asset
  • Must have attention to detail
  • Experience with knives and food handling is an asset
  • Must have the ability to be on your feet for the duration of the shift and comfortable lifting up to 60 lbs.
